American Uprising

Education, equity, and opportunity for every community

American Uprising is a civic organization dedicated to rebuilding trust in our public institutions, investing in public education, expanding opportunity, and ensuring every citizen has a real voice in our democracy. We work with partners across the country to advance practical solutions that improve daily life and strengthen the American promise.

Contributions support outreach, voter education, and policy advocacy in line with our mission.

Who we are

We are educators, parents, veterans, small business owners, and community leaders who believe that a strong democracy depends on strong public institutions that serve every person. Our work is non-glamorous and persistent. We focus on measurable results that move communities forward.

Our mission

American Uprising exists to expand opportunity, promote fairness in our economy, and support a democracy where every citizen can participate without barriers. We advance local and national initiatives that raise learning outcomes, protect health and safety, and create pathways to meaningful work. We pursue policies that correct the legacy of discrimination and exclusion, and we do so with a commitment to transparency, data, and accountability.

Our approach

We build coalitions that cross geography, politics, and professions. We start with public education because it is the common institution that touches nearly every family. We pair that focus with concrete goals in climate security, economic justice, mental health, and service. We test programs, measure impact, publish results, and iterate. We operate with respect for local context and with a belief that communities know best what they need.

Public education is the foundation

Great schools create future scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers, and civic leaders. They also create trust in a fair system. That is why we invest in public schools and public educators.

Strong schools

We support full and fair funding for K-12 districts, modern facilities, safe transportation, and access to up-to-date materials and technology. Students deserve clean, well-maintained classrooms and the chance to learn in safe, welcoming environments. Educators deserve respect and pay that reflects their expertise and workload.

Great teachers

Teacher retention depends on pay, mentorship, and time to plan. We back policies that strengthen induction for new teachers, expand paid practicum partnerships with universities, reduce class sizes where possible, and create career ladders that keep experienced educators in the classroom.

Pathways and readiness

Every graduate should leave high school ready for college, apprenticeships, or direct entry into skilled work. We support dual-credit programs, career and technical education, and partnerships that align coursework with real regional jobs in energy, health, logistics, technology, and advanced manufacturing.

Education policy must recognize that many communities were excluded by design. Fixing that requires resources and honest measurement. We track outcomes and direct help where it does the most good.

What we work on

Our priorities reflect urgent national needs and the lived experience of families. We connect bold goals with practical steps.

Climate security

Climate change affects food prices, housing, migration, and national security. We back projects that cut pollution while creating high-paying jobs. We focus on communities left out in the past so that the benefits of clean air and water are shared. Preparedness for extreme heat, wildfire, and storms is a public safety obligation.

Economic justice

Productivity rose for decades while many wages did not. We support workers’ rights, collective bargaining, and policies that ensure pay increases reach the middle and working class. We also support portable benefits for gig, farm, and domestic workers so families can plan and save with confidence.

Democracy reform

A healthy republic requires that every eligible citizen can vote and that districts are drawn fairly. We back actions that stop voter suppression, improve election administration, expand access for voters with disabilities, and modernize systems so participation is secure and simple.

Community health and national service

Belonging is a public health issue. Service is a nation building tool that teaches teamwork across differences.

Mental health

We support prevention, early intervention, and expanded access to care for mental health and substance use. Communities need school-based counselors, crisis response teams that bring health professionals to the scene, and coverage that does not bankrupt families. Data should guide interventions and funding should reward providers who deliver proven results.

National service

Service programs like AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and state service-year initiatives build skills and trust. We work to expand positions so that young people and older adults alike can serve in education, disaster response, conservation, and public health. Service is a path into careers and a bridge across differences.

How we operate

Evidence, transparency, and accountability

American Uprising publishes goals, tracks outcomes, and invites public review. We disclose financials as required by law and follow best practices in data privacy and security. We work with universities, local governments, and nonprofits to evaluate programs honestly. If an effort falls short, we say so, adjust, and try again. Trust is earned through candor and results.

• We set measurable targets and share progress reports on a regular schedule.

• We use independent evaluation partners where appropriate.

• We build diverse coalitions and listen to those most affected by policy choices.
